Sofia Naumenko…
…so that despite Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the destruction of her home town near Kyiv, she can continue her education and ballet training.
Anastasiya Kharchenko in her
own words…
When I choreograph? When I dance? It is never just for me alone. The moment I melt into movement, I am suddenly free both to travel beyond the frontiers of my own emotions and to take those around me to new worlds of wondrous imagination.
…
Ukraine? In the darkest times, we remember the bright people, our people. Ukraine. We will stand tall. We will win. We are love. We are truth!
…
We are in a formative slice of time. Ukrainian cultural figures are a voice heard today all over the world, helping in the fight against evil. Today’s generations and tomorrow’s will look upon these brave souls and learn from their tragedy and sorrow…our tragedy and sorrow.

Anastasiya Kharchenko in NPAFE’s words…
It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, thrills abound. We meet someone for the first time who by her mere presence leaves us breathless in wonderment.
Such is the power and presence of Anastasiya Kharchenko: choreographic genius, tenacity, and an uncanny ability few others have to transform imagination into brilliant stage and screen performance.
We met Kharchenko in-person for the first time in Amsterdam in June 2022. A refugee from war-torn Ukraine, her acclaim as producer, choreographer and dancer long predated Russia’s aggression in her home town of Irpen near Kyiv.
Indeed, as choreographer and teacher of dance, Kharchenko has been sought out not only by her own countrymen as teacher, choreographer, producer and performer but also by the likes of Mercedes Benz, America’s Got Talent and Florence + The Machine to make their brands look great.
Among her professional achievements: national and international recognition for her non-stop commitment to educate young students of dance, including Sofia Naumenko.
Kharchenko makes everyone feel wonderful when she touches them with her mind. It takes only a look at her stills and videos, her Instagram feed and her Facebook profile to understand how and why. In a word, she is supremacy in thought, empathy and action.
Kharchenko’s home has been destroyed by the Russian invaders, with her parents forced to evacuate to the south of Ukraine and she herself to London and the kindness of a family there to take her in. As of now, husband Andrei remains in Ukraine to defend his homeland.
Coping with all of this is hardly easy, but in no way has this stopped Kharchenko. Acknowledged internationally as a leader in creating performances and also making music video projects, short movies, art projects and commercial shootings, she has now placed herself among a tiny handful of world-class choreographers successfully to choreograph original new works, using Zoom technology to rehearse dancers thousands of miles away.
This includes the June 2022 world premiere of her latest dance work, Fantasy Of Touch, commissioned and presented by Washington DC’s Company E to a sellout crowd.
Talk about being swept away! Kharchenko’s own Fantasy Of Touch videoed dance performance in London was coupled with a live performance of her choreography work by Company E’s own dancers – a magical live-plus-video choreographic masterwork that emerged with just two week’s advance notice, complete with choreography by Zoom and the audience on their feet applauding her.
You get to see Anastasiya Kharchenko’s Fantasy Of Touch performance right here and to imagine the great works by her hand that are yet to come.
