These critical elements have always been and are part of our original dance and theatrical language.
Existential questions, the urgency of human relationships to other beings and surroundings, and the interplay of reality and fantasy are all characteristic of our works.
Lenka Vagnerová
We emphasize the precision of theatre situations and movement qualities. Every year, our ensemble creates new progressive authors’ productions that carry elements of dance, physical, puppet and dramatic theatre, placing us among the vibrant community of people systematically developing the genre of dance theatre on domestic and world stages.
We support the individuality of performers, use the strength and dynamics of the group, and search out new physical possibilities and movement, always stretching the limits of one’s own body.
And, each year, we bring together outstanding artists: dancers, actors, musicians, visual artists. At the same time, the ensemble offers professional educational background, provides residences and internships, gives space to new theatrical forms and connects outstanding artists and creators.

Trailer for “Amazones”
Lenka Vagnerová & Company
Creator’s Narrative
Amazons. A nation of mythical women, warriors whose furious powers and mercilessness have created bizarre stories. Speed, strength, resilience, strike, endurance, target, fire, good night ! Who says that violence is not the answer … ? … and who is stopping me ?
Trailer for “La Loba”
Lenka Vagnerová & Company
Creator’s Narrative
La Loba is the performance of Lenka Vagnerová & Company which combines two art genres and two remarkable artists: dancer Andrea Opavská and singer Jana Vébrová. It is based on their unbridled energy, harmony and above all, power and intensity of expression. The key component of the performance is the music of Ivan Acher which springs from the sound of natural matters. Bones, wood, strings and animal skins are the elemental essences for building ritual moods bonded with the voice Jana Vébrová.
La Loba is inspired by the story which is carried on by generations of storytellers in many different locations: A woman wandering through the countryside for years and building creatures out of the bones she carries around, has the ability to turn creatures back to life. She encompasses both life and death. However, none of us could know how difficult and unbearable her destiny is for her. And what if her powers last forever? She’s watching us all the time. We are just a short period of her life. Sometimes she laughts at us. But what if her patience runs out? She masters the conditions of her own existence and maybe she will not want to repeat everything once again.
“Curious at first sight, quite extraordinary. Though, she is hardly noticeable. No one can hear her, though she is not mute. Even though she stands, she turns.”
Trailer for “Gossip”
Lenka Vagnerová & Company
Creator’s Narrative
Gossip blather, slander, misinformation or rumours are a cross-cultural phenomenon of humanity. The power and punch sound of the word uttered in the form of slander is often more powerful than the gun. It spreads at great speed, it cannot be resisted, it can easily injure, discredit, turn a life around without any physical contact. Slander is faster than light and often upon us before it arises. We feed it and we deform it, we need it and we condemn it.
Trailer for “Riders”
Lenka Vagnerová & Company
Creator’s Narrative
“We have learned to fly the air like birds and swim the sea like fish, but we have not learned the simple art of living together as brothers.”
George Bernard Shaw
Riders draws inspiration from birds and the role they have played in our culture and traditions. Birds are silent witnesses to our stories and as such they are exceptional: their world is elsewhere, it is a world of different dimensions. Birds have always played an important role in mythology, faith and our spiritual richness. Who are the true “Riders” of our planet? Is it birds with their capacity to move freely around the world? Or is it us, with our capacity to destroy everything within hours?
We’re here, we are among you. We are fast, we don’t respect the wind. We are strong, yet vulnerable. We love to watch you while you seldom know about us. We can’t change your destinies but you often change ours. We share one world but watch it from different perspectives. Does this mean that we can also share the same values?
Trailer for “The Lešany Crib”
Lenka Vagnerová & Company
Creator’s Narrative
The Lešany Crib (LEH-shah-ny) is based on a story of the famous Czech author František Hrubín. It deals with hope and fatality in our lives through a parallel with the biblical theme of Joseph, Mary and their child chased by a Herod’s soldier. The story is full of bizarre situations, love, humor, hope and belief. Five characters will meet in a pub in the middle of nowhere during a snow blizzard.
The moving story with its beautiful language and the poetry full of images may work as a cure against the world obsessed with production and serve as a reminder of the human dimension in each one of us. The Lešany Crib impresses by the power of simplicity and humanity emerging from the poetry of Hrubín. Text full of emotions with its rich and intense ancient story, text relating to the pre-Christian and Christian roots of the European culture at the moment of their retrieval and need for their remembering.
“Josef Padevět and his wife Marie have been walking. Marie does not want to surrender the bundle made of a quilt and covered with a coat that she has been holding in her arms. In it, blood is running through the darkness of the little body that, with every beat of its heart, has been approaching the moment when it realizes itself and becomes enchanted by the immense and amazing life with the horrors of wars, dreams and love…”
Trailer for “Mah Hunt”
Lenka Vagnerová & Company
Creator’s Narrative
“I live in a world without animals – I miss their rules.”
In this duet, two people decided to experience hunting. What will it look like? That depends on the set of rules…
The piece introduces a passionate game of two people who are trying to find their lost emotions and meaning to their lives. Ravine, permanent struggle but also mutual respect are all interwoven with harmony, where the hunter can easily become prey.
