…An edit map is a governing structural script — a roadmap that guides both the shoot and post-production editing so that raw footage has a coherent emotional and narrative arc rather than being left to chance. Rather than a traditional shooting script which would be line-by-line and dialogue-based, it is an editorial outline and a litmus test that will tell us at any point on shoot days whether what we are doing with time, talent and technology fits with the outcome we want.
