.

To move is to explore deep layers of meanings that go beyond consciousness.

My work usually presents itself as a performance or film charged with psychological dramatism that shows the connection between movement and instinct.

Film and Dance are connected deeply. It is a special connection that allows me to explore and express in a multidisciplinary process. The camera actually becomes a dancer who tells you a story.

Talavera Tejeda’s cv is compelling, testimony that she is armed with all of the entrepreneurial skills and industry relationships for drawing on the right resources to get the job done. It is also evidence that so many others trust her for her especially keen eye – for setting, color and body movement that break through the fourth wall that in videos recording choreographic precision almost always separates audience from performer.

A lot of people including Sofar Global have entrusted Talavera Tejeda to produce and deliver her special form of brilliance. And how she has! Today, confident that she has more to learn and more to offer, Talavera Tejeda has moved to New York City, well-aware of just how competitive it is in Gotham City to succeed in filmmaking or dance…no less when you combine the two into a single compelling package.

Will that stop her? Highly unlikely. Her courage to take on challenges that would discourage most of the rest of us is self-evident. You will see that pluck in the short videos further down this page.

A special word about Una Hebra Dance Company

Together with other six Peruvian women who are co-founders and members, Mar Tejeda formed “Una Hebra” (a “Strand” or “Thread” in English) in 2020 in Peru.  A formidable independent dance company based in Lima, Una Hebra offers a strong innovative approach to the creative process, anchored in close creative collaboration among all the participants. Una Hebra’s projects revolve around the questioning of femininity, emotional impulse, and intuitive process, and especially using dance film and live performances as platforms to immerse audiences in the performers’ immersive storytelling.
