The transformational power of the arts is limitless. Its dynamism inspires us to collaborate with other dancers, with non-dance artists across multiple disciplines, and with diverse groups everywhere in the community.

As a choreographer, it is not always the best to be dancing in my own work. I cannot look at the big picture and also be in the painting at the same time. Yet when I do dance with the Company, it allows me to ‘feel’ the team, especially when someone or something is not working the way we want. Once we feel that, we can make it right. And we do.

My dance company partners with innovative and creative performing artists who, like us, value the role that the performing arts plays in moving societies forward, and with corporate sponsors intent on demonstrating their lasting commitment to corporate social responsibility

Alison Cook Beatty Dance is an astonishing NY-based modern dance company founded in 2012 by award-winning choreographer Alison Cook-Beatty, a true creator who has successfully married passion, leadership, originality, entrepreneurial courage, and dance expertise that have been thrilling audiences ever since.

Cook-Beatty’s creative power is rooted in a remarkable personal and professional journey beginning with her studies and performances at the Boston Conservatory of Music where she earned her BFA and studied the great modern dance and ballet traditions along with extensive composition and choreography training.

In 2006, the Paul Taylor Dance Company itself recognized her exceptional skills and brought her on board. There, she learned a great deal from Taylor himself, watching him closely as he choreographed new works, and dancing in Taylor performances both in New York, nationally, and internationally.

In 2008, she was awarded a scholarship to attend New York’s prestigious Joffrey Ballet School. At Joffrey, she expanded upon and fine-tuned her craft while getting a first-hand glimpse into the working of yet another successful celebrated dance organization. It was not long before she came to believe that she could do just that – run a dance company as Artistic Director and Choreographer.

In 2012, she formed Alison Cook Beatty Dance, indeed her very own company with its very own style and with its very own success in bringing more than 30 new works to the stage in little more than 7 short years.

She remarked, “The time spent between leaving Paul’s company (2008) and starting my own helped prepare and inform me in the huge responsibility of leading a non-profit organization in New York City. I needed to be ready inside to take on the unknowns, knowing that if I was going to do this, I was going to do it with full intention of creating art in a way that I would be proud and grow as an artist, and with a Company that would inspire audiences.”
