The Artist

In just a few short years, Company Danzante Contemporary Dance has become one of the Washington DC metro area’s most acclaimed professional repertory dance companies, in demand locally, nationally and internationally, and invited to perform at venues like the Kennedy Center, the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, Philadelphia’s Koresh Artists Showcase, Ireland’s Galway Arts Festival, Italy’s Oriente Occidente Festival, and France’s Biennale d’Art.

The remarkable choreographic team of Katherine Horrigan and Arturo Garcia founded Company Danzante in 2012, after having achieved international recognition as choreographers and performers in many countries.

Company Danzante prides itself by presenting newly crafted contemporary dance by seasoned and emerging choreographers and performers, advancing and enriching the modern dance art form by investing heavily in the special creative process that produces talented new choreographers and dancers.

By its success, Company Danzante has proven that contemporary dance is a powerful source of communication that captivates the imagination and stimulate the senses of people everywhere.

The Artistry

Based in Northern Virginia, Company Danzante presents newly crafted contemporary dance by seasoned and emerging choreographers and performers.

Many thousands of people are directly touched by Company Danzante performances in the mid-Atlantic region alone. Of special note: Company Danzante was selected to premiere its new work, “Lost in the City”, at the NPAFE “DanceFactor” launch on November 15, 2016, hosted by WeWork, the world’s leading shared workspace company.

Company Danzante founding directors Katherine Horrigan and Arturo Garcia settled in the Washington DC area following international performing careers with Tania Perez-Salas Compania de Danza, Elisa Monte Dance, Ailey II and guest appearance with Les Grand Ballet du Canadians, Jessica Lang Dance, Nathan Trice/Rituals, and The Francesca Harper Project.

They have held choreography residencies in Venezuela, Mexico, and Chicago and have taught for summer intensives and master classes both nationally and internationally.

Company Danzante advances and enriches the modern dance art form by investing heavily in the special creative process that produces new choreographers, enables their close collaboration with artists of multiple disciplines, and nurtures their professional careers and the careers of the passionate dance artists on the Company Danzante roster.
