“Dance is like life. It is best experienced live and alive!”

…in NPAFE’s words.

Sarah Nachbauer, Downtown Manhattan

East by North Dance Theatre principals Sarah Nachbauer and Jon Eden are making a special mark on the world of modern dance. Their impact will be lasting.

Nachbauer and Eden have embarked on their own creative journey, forming East By North Dance Theatre as a unique creative platform to bring original works of physically intense, evocative, and oftentimes gravity-defying choreographic movement to audiences in New York City and beyond.

Jon Eden by Robert Whitman

It is no wonder that they are succeeding. For more than a decade, Nachbauer and Eden have toured and performed as soloists all around the world, performing in more than 15 different countries, across 4 continents and in some of the world’s most prestigious theaters.

As creative assistants with multiple companies on numerous world premieres, they have artistically contributed to corporate events and projects for MOMIX, Catapult Entertainment, Moving On, Katharine Helen Fisher Dance Company, Kohler, Mercedes-Benz, Wynn Casinos, Pirelli, Cannon, Cialis, Target, Columbus Day Parade NYC, Girl Scouts of America, Mayflower, Marriott, MAC Cosmetics, Bose, Lancôme, and Aveda … just to name a few!

Of special mention: their role Creative Consultants for Cardinal Theatricals under the direction of Andrew Rasmussen, and for the acclaimed photographer Robert Whitman.

Their collaboration with Whitman is breathtaking. Whitman’s second-to-none creative photographic skills married to the unique Nachbauer-Eden brand of choreographic imagination and intimacy allows all the rest of us to be carried into an unusual world of evocative wonderment.

When the rest of us get to view the creative result, examples of which you will find here including the top-of-page “2:17 AM” video, we are left asking ourselves: “Can this really be?” at the same time we are thrilled that it is.

No wonder that so many audiences and so many brands have come to entrust Nachbauer, Eden, and now their very own East By North Dance Theatre to make us look and feel so great!
